How To Make Money Blogging About A Niche

Blogging is a very lucrative business which can consistently fetch you huge income if you do it the right way. As a matter of fact, there are lots of bloggers out there who earn tons of thousands of dollars every month.

Most people believe that blogging is just a fun thing – something one has to do just for fun, and that’s why we have a lot of people who are not blogging to make money. Whereas, some people see blogging as a business, and they treat their blogs as such. In return, they make a lot of money.

Don’t let anybody fool you by telling you that you can’t make money blogging. The pictures above explains it better. If you doubt any of the profiles, then take your time to do some research.

Finally, blogging is not a get rich quick scheme, like Ponzi, Binary option etc. If you think you can just set up a blog and start churning out cash immediately, then my advice for you is to get that mindset off your chest or don’t even think of blogging for money.

Just like in any other online business, traffic equates money. The amount of traffic one generates will depend on the amount of money he’ll make. And it takes approximately 6 months before one can start seeing a reasonable amount of traffic as a newbie blogger. So, to sum it up, it takes 6 months to 1 year before you can start getting paid.

So, if you’re looking for quick ways to make money online, then look here. I am going to split this article into 7 steps for easy understanding.

1. Pick a niche for your blog

Most people underestimate the power of specialization. In order to become successful in any business, you have to specialize. Don’t open a shop and start selling shoes, hand burger, gadgets (phones), T-shirt, cooking gas, cars, etc., LOL, unless you have the capacity of Walmart. Instead, open a shop and sell only shoes; sell them in style.

If you really want to make money blogging, then you have to specialize. As a blogger you don’t need to be jack of all trades, picking a niche for your blog is very important. Don’t open a blog with a lot of different niches like this: Entertainment, Sports, Health, and Business, Romance etc. all in one blog and expect your blog to start churning out money for you. Although, you certainly would make money, but it will take years and a lot of hard work before you’ll start earning reasonable amount of money.

But if you open a blog about Romance alone, with hard work and dedication, in no time you’ll start generating a decent amount of income.

What is a niche?

A niche is an industry or a faction of an industry one specializes on. Which industry would you like to specialize on? Entertainment, Health, Technology, Sports, Fashion, Education?

Take your time to brainstorm and do some research in order to find a suitable niche for your blog.

Before you jump into picking a niche for your blog, ask yourself these questions.

  • Is my potential readers passionate about this niche or topic?
  • How will this serve the purpose of value to my readers? Or will it be of help to my readers?
  • Will it be easy for me to find groups of people who are passionate about this niche or topic?
  • Do I have a firm target demographic? For example, people who fit a specific age demography.
  • Is the niche seasonable?
  • Does this niche have lendable resources for creating and publishing contents?

Take your time to do some thorough research in order to find out what your potential readers want, because if your blog does not focus in their area of interest, then your blog will end up boring to them. In fact, you won’t have a targeted audience.

If this happens, you won’t be able to generate reasonable amount of traffic, which is what is needed to make money.

You can use Google trend or amazon best sellers to find out what people are currently interested in, in order to know which faction of an industry will be more lucrative.

 2. Setting up your blog

Setting up a blog these days is as easy as eating a piece of cake, LOL. Gone are those days when only those with programming know-how can set up blogs. In those days, to setup a nice blog one has to hire a skilled programmer (web developer or webmaster), and you’ll end up paying him tons of cash. These days, with the help of WordPress and Google blogger, you can setup a blog within a couple minutes.

*you don’t need to be Mark Zuckerberg before you can be able to setup your blog.

*Using wordpress or Google blogger you can setup your blog within minutes.

3. Write unique contents that will bring traffic

Every blogger out there should be able to relate to this phrase; “content is the key.” As you already know, the best traffic source for any blogger is organic traffic (search engine traffic). Google algorithm is programmed to rank websites base on how unique their contents are. Therefore, if you do not have quality contents on your website don’t even dream of your pages hitting Google search engine result pages (SERP). In other words, your website will be hidden far beneath… like the remains of Titanic in the heart of Atlantic Ocean.

Content is money; content is everything, because without quality contents you won’t be able to generate a reasonable amount of traffic, and without a reasonable amount of traffic, you definitely won’t be able to make a reasonable amount of money.

So, always take your time to write a well detailed contents. Don’t be in a rush to post contents on your blog, because it’s the contents that make all the difference.

  • Tell people who you are using your content.
  • Create a catchy headline: The headline of a content is what your potential readers see first; and they will decide whether to read your content or not by merely taking a quick glance at your content title.
  • Use links to relevant your posts or headlines
  • Use bullet or number lists.
  • Split your texts into shorter paragraphs.
  • No need for too much grammar. Make sure that your content is comprehensive. In other words, make sure that your content is easy for your readers.
  • Write in simplicity and style.
  • Use a lot of space around your paragraphs.
  • Give enough details
  • If part of your content is copied from somewhere, don’t forget to add a reference link back to the website.
  • Add photos where necessary
*Always take your time to write high quality contents.

*Try as much as possible to give enough details.

*Always add photos where neccessary.

*If you copy any part of your article from a website, never forget to add a source link back to the website.

*Make your articles to be very easy to comprehend. No need for use of difficult words! Write in simplicity and style.

4. Convert your visitors into email subscribers

It is quite surprising that some internet entrepreneurs still underestimate the power of  Email marketing. Email marketing is the process of selling products for companies or individuals via email.

Blogging for money automatically makes you an entrepreneur; you’re not just a blogger. Therefore, see your blog as a business and treat it as such.

One of the major monetization strategy most top bloggers use to churn out loads of cash is affiliate marketing. Email marketing plays a very vital role in affiliate marketing. So, it is very important that you start building your email list right from day one.

After you launch your blog, start building your email list without delay. You can opt into one of these email building services: Getresponse or mailchimp.

The world has gone technologically wild. Today, one can send thousands of emails by just a click of a button. Most internet marketers and bloggers are yet to realize the great potential in email marketing. Meanwhile, the very few who already know about this strategy are churning out loads of cash from the system on a regular daily basis.

  • Use Overlay or Popup – Overlay or popup seem to be working better than other method, and this is why most websites (especially authority ones) use it.
  • Offer value – One of the basic ways of getting a lot of email subscribers is to offer your visitors something that will make them give you their emails, and that is value. Merely telling them to sign up is not enough, you need to give them reasons to do so.
  • Put your sign up form where visible – A lot of websites don’t add their sign up forms where visitors can easily see them. Don’t make this same mistake, make sure your sign up form is easily noticeable.
  • Do some testing – Find out which method is suitable for your visitors. For instance if 70% of your visitors access your blog with mobile phones, then it might not be a good idea to use overlay or popup technique.
  • Finally, Promote on Social Media – Your social media channels is a good place to get more email subscribers. You can drive people to subscribe to your email newsletters through Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram etc.

*the main purpose of building an email list is to sell products (your products or other people’s products).

*Make sure you place your subscription box where noticeable.

*Use pop up or overlay technique technique.

*To get your users to subscribe quickly, look for something to use as a bait, probably a very important PDF. Whoever signs up gets it free.

5. Send those subscribers contents that will build trust

Trust plays a huge role in any business (whether online or offline). Without trust it will be very difficult for your subscribers to convert to sales.

Always send your subscribers a welcome message. Try as much as possible to send high quality contents to them on a regular basis, this will help build trust faster. If possible give them something that is worth money for free.

Bottom-line: Try as much as possible to initiate trust between you and your subscribers. It is very important!

*In order for your subscribers convert to sale you need their trust.

*Do everything you can to gain the trust of your subscribers.

*Trust plays a very important role in this business.

6. Sell products or services that your audience need

This is strictly for those who intend to monetize their blogs with affiliate marketing strategy.
Don’t start a blog about romance and start selling products on weight loss. Every niche has a specific audience, and every specific audience has a specific need.

Earlier before now, I talked about how important it is that you pick a niche for your blog. Now, this is the major reason why I asked you to do so. You pick a niche in order to target a particular audience, and you target this audience because you have a particular type of product you wish to sell to them, and this is where affiliate marketing comes in.

If you don’t have products to sell to your audience, you can sign up with Amazon, clickbank, Jvzoo etc. as an affiliate marketer. You will promote their products either through your blog or email marketing, and in return you will get a commission for each product sold through your affiliate link.

Now, if you start blogging about golfing it means you’re targeting only people who play golf. And it won’t make sense if you try to sell stuffs that are not golf related to them.

Starting a blog about gardening and posting affiliate links on romance is like walking into an elementary school and trying to sell beer to the kids, LOL. So, be who you claim to be; practice what you preach. Don’t claim to be Bob and behave like Jack.

Bottom-line: Never sell stuff that are not related to your niche to your audience.

*Sell only stuff related to your niche to your audience.

*Sell what your audience need and not just what you like.

*You picked a niche because you’re targeting a particular set of people (never forget that).
